The shotgun is one of the most effective and versatile firearms available to civilians. In this free two-hour seminar we’ll focus primarily on use of the shotgun as a defensive arm.
We’ll discuss the strengths and limitations of the shotgun, types of munition available, pump vs. semi-auto, accessories, and more. The final portion of the class will be live-fire. Students will have the opportunity to try out defensive shotguns provided by the instructors. During that session, you’ll learn proper stance and mounting of the shotgun–the key elements needed to control recoil. (Shooting a shotgun does not have to be unpleasant as many assume. Proper technique will mitigate the recoil and provide for a more pleasant shooting experience.)
Students will use the instructor’s shotguns and ammunition (please do not bring your own). You must provide eye and ear protection, also bring a notebook and pen (no recording devices, please).
Class is held outdoors at the Outdoor Range at Danvers Fish & Game Club.
Note: Participants must have and present a valid Massachusetts LTC.
