What you need to bring and further instructions:
(You must supply your own equipment—we have none to borrow.)
• Your valid retired law enforcement officer identification card issued by the law enforcement agency from which the you retired, pursuant to 501 CMR 13.00, and indicates at a minimum that your are an otherwise qualified retired law enforcement officer.
• The mailing address of the department/agency retired from.
• Your Massachusetts LTC (must be with you during class).
• Eye and ear protection designed for shooting (electronic ear pro is recommended—easier for you to hear range commands).
• Hat with a brim; clothes suitable for training; footwear appropriate for rapid movement (no sandals or open-toe shoes). This class is conducted outdoors—wear clothing appropriate for the weather.
• Rigid gun belt capable of supporting the weight of a loaded pistol and extra magazines.
• Semi-auto pistol or revolver chambered in a center-fire cartridge–no rimfire firearms.
• At least two magazines or speedloaders.
• Strong-side, outside-the-waist-band (OWB), belt-mounted, kydex/polymer holster. No inside-the-waist holsters. No pocket holsters or ankle holsters. No SERPA-type holsters. No clip-on holsters. No fabric/nylon/leather holsters. No strap/flap holsters of any kind. There are quality, inexpensive kydex/polymer holsters out there that will serve you well for training. Duty holsters/rigs are welcome as long as they meet the above criteria.
• An outer garment to conceal your holster. Examples: jacket, sweatshirt, vest, button-down shirt.
• A way to carry your reload.
• 250 rounds of ammunition appropriate for your firearm. (100 rounds for the training portion and 50 rounds for the qualification–you are allowed three chances to qualify.)
• Bring water or sports drinks to stay hydrated and snacks.
• A pen and pad are recommended if you wish to take notes.
• IMPORTANT: You must be very familiar with the firearm you bring to class and how it operates and have experience shooting it—THIS CANNOT BE STRESSED ENOUGH. This is not the time to try out a new gun.

class lacking equipment, proper credentials, or with inappropriate items may not participate.
